The One Salad
Three Salads for the Elvish Archons in their gardens green,
Seven for the Dwarven Lords deep in their gemstone halls,
Nine for the Human Kings so often seen,
One for the best place to eat in urban malls.
In the hands of people who are healthy, fit and lean.
One Salad to rule them all, One Salad to feed them,
One Salad to bring them all, into the future lead them,
In the hands of people who are healthy, fit and lean.

At the dawn of our planet and the birth of its many diverse races, we were given the gift of salad.
Together, fruits and vegetables and whatever else would be greater than the sum of their parts.
And we rejoiced.
Three salads were given to the race of Elves, to reap the rewards of their luscious green gardens –
Spring Mix, Spinach Salad, and Fruit Salad.
Seven salads were given to the race of Dwarves, full of the rich diversity of their earthen roots –
Potato salad, Beet Salad, Bean Salad, Kale Salad, Coleslaw, Mushroom Salad, and Fennel Salad.
Nine salads were given to the race Men and Women, mortal masters of land, sea and sky –
Pasta Salad, Caesar Salad, Cob Salad, Wedge Salad, Seafood Salad, Chicken Salad, Tuna Salad, Egg Salad, and Jello Salad.
But little did the three races know, that in secret, in the fiery hearths surrounding the planet’s equator –
Another salad was made. A master salad.
One Salad To Rule Them All.

Taco Salad.
And into this salad was poured all of the most savory flavors of our world: sharp aged cheese, rich spicy Chipotle peppers, soothingly sour cream, with creamy guacamole made of smooth avocado.
Over time, the smooth textures of this master salad were enhanced with the textured crunch of crushed up tortilla chips sprinkled loosely over the top of every bowl.
And again the people rejoiced.
